Tours (Public Performances Across the V4)
The Tours are the public-facing highlight of V4 Improv Connect 2.0: Stories Without Borders. These performances bring the project’s core artistic result to audiences in Slovakia, Czechia, Hungary, Poland, and beyond: a newly developed show format designed to be multilingual and language-barrier-free.
Many international improv shows and workshops in the region are presented mainly in English, which can unintentionally exclude local audiences—especially those who don’t usually attend English-language theatre. Our Tours aim to change that. The new format is built to be local-audience friendly, story-first, and theatrically rich, using a mix of music, movement, non-verbal elements, and clear storytelling so that audiences can follow and enjoy the show even without strong English.
This is an ambitious concept—and it is directly tied to the Improv Labs in each partner country, where the format is researched, tested, and refined through cross-border collaboration. The Tours are where that work meets the public: we perform the format in traditional theatre settings, expand visibility for improv as a serious art form, and invite new audiences into the experience.
Just as importantly, the Tours are not the end point. The performances will be documented and the format will be shared online here under a Creative Commons (CC BY) license, so other groups can learn it, adapt it, and perform it. We believe making this knowledge openly available can help raise the standard of improv theatre—not only in the Visegrad region, but across Europe, where cultural and linguistic diversity is the norm.
