V4 Improv Connect 2.0: Stories Without Borders

Shows and Tours

Public Performances Across the V4 and Beyond

The Tours are the public-facing highlight of V4 Improv Connect 2.0: Stories Without Borders. They bring the project’s main artistic result to audiences in Slovakia, Czechia, Hungary, Poland and beyond: a newly developed improvisational theatre format designed to be multilingual, story-first and accessible across language barriers.

Many international improv performances and workshops in the region are presented mainly in English. While this makes international collaboration possible, it can unintentionally exclude local audiences—especially people who do not normally attend English-language theatre.

Stories Without Borders explores a different approach. Language remains an important part of the performance, but audiences do not need to understand every spoken word to follow the story. Words work alongside music, movement, physical expression, character, emotion and clear theatrical storytelling.

The performances are directly connected to the Improv LABs in each partner country, where the format is researched, tested and refined through cross-border collaboration. The Tours are where this creative work meets a live audience.

Through performances in theatre and festival settings, the project aims to reach new audiences, increase the visibility of improvisational theatre and strengthen its recognition as a full-fledged art form with artistic, cultural, social and educational value.

The performances will also be documented. At the end of the project, the resulting format and selected resources will be shared online under a Creative Commons CC BY licence, allowing other artists and theatre groups to learn from, perform and adapt the work.

Current Tour Schedule

The format will continue to develop as it travels from city to city. Each performance will reflect what the international ensemble has discovered during the creative LAB connected to that city.

Lublin, Poland — First Public Performance

Show: V4 Improv Connect 2.0 presents Stories Without Borders
Date: Saturday, 12 September 2026
Time: 18:30
Venue: Akademia Sztuki Nowoczesnej, Lublin
Festival: Part of Dreams Republic Festival 2026

Eight performers from Slovakia, Czechia, Hungary and Poland will present the first public version of the new format following two intensive days of training, rehearsal and development with external expert Arkadiusz “Arek” Ziętek.

Because the performance is improvised, the version created in Lublin will exist only once. Its discoveries will then travel with the ensemble and influence the next stage of the project.
